Do you think dark websites are juvenile? I was going to make a website with a dark theme and then i noticed that i have never seen a successful dark site.
What do you think about this? |

Here are some good looking dark websites:

I prefer dark websites to light. I have light sensitive eyes and for me it is hard sometimes to read the black on white. Especially during the winter.

I never really thought about it....Most successful websites are light colored, I can't think of a single successful dark site. Well, my lost site is dark, and it's semi-successful, but not super-successful. Maybe the darkness is keeping it down. I also just installed a dark theme at my SEO forum, but I have been contemplating using vBulletin instead of SMF, I can't think of any truly successful webmaster forums other than pHpfreaks that use SMF. Most of them use vB.

Just an observation.
I think that light coloured sites are more successful because white colour is the sign of purity and most big businesses and some "wannabes" want to pretend that they are pure in their business dealings. |

IMO, It honestly depends on the websites theme / subject, and the audience you are targeting. Normally, a dark website is targeted towards younger viewers in their teens. Lighter websites also tend to give a more professional look and a sense that you know what the hell you are doing.

it's better when site isn't too dark....but it depends on, how it's built, which colours are used and how...dark pages can be interesting too...
